Layered necklaces are very on point stylewise at the moment, so I thought I show you quickly how to do one. This one here I made for my sister and it has more than one pendant, but you can skip the extras and just attach one per chain or whatever you fancy. In the most simple version, this too is extremely easy and fast to do.

D.I.Y. Tutorial for a stylish layered necklace | Funky Jungle blog

You need:

- 2 pieces of chain in different length and if you want different styles
- 1 clasp of your choice - here I used a lobster clasp
- 2 jump rings of same size
- 1 short piece of chain (2-3cm) or several more same size jump rings
- several head pins depending on the amount of beads / charms
- pliers & cutter

1. Attach the two pieces of chain to two of the jump rings. Lay them out parallel whilst doing this, make sure the chains are not twisted.

2. Attach the clasp to one end of the now double chain

3. Attach either the short piece of chain or several jump rings to the other part of the double chain to make the necklace length adjustable.

P.S. I should have made sure it didn't lay out twisted whilst taking the pic haha.Fail. It really isn't so.

4. Attach charms as per liking to either of the chains of the layered necklace

4a. To attach the beads I took one of the head pins and pulled it through. Then clipped it off at about one finger width of length. Use the round plier to shape the metal in the way pictured above. Re-open it a little bit and attach where you want to have it. For my necklace it went into the middle.

5. Repeat step 4a until satisfied with the appearance of your necklace. Some charms can/have to be attached with jump rings instead of head pins. Adjust your "needed" list accordingly. As you can see, I added several more beads on either side of the faceted one.

6. Enjoy your unique, personalized layered necklace

It is almost vintage

I am going to admit it, the reason for this post is to show off my self made earrings and necklace. Last week I sat down and created a couple of new pieces of jewelry for myself. The outfit itself is made of a blue maxi skirt and a black top with waterfall neckline that I've had for a very long time. So long I think it could almost count as vintage. Love wearing this shiny skirt for summer. Will be sad when it finally goes to clothes heaven.

Well, due to commitments and other busyness once again Friday's Fashion Find has turned into a Saturday's Fashion Find.

Because of this and the because I sometimes find interesting things more often then once a week, I've decided to drop the fixation on a specific day, i.e. the Friday, make it just a Fashion Find and call it a day. This way, I can post it when I want without having to make excuses for being late all the time and even more then once a week should I so fancy.

Bubblegum and Candy D.I.Y. Do it yourself statement necklace fai da te

This is a necklace I've made myself.

Striped beads in two sizes and three different colors alternated with silver "dotted" beads stringed with 3 equivalent colors of organza.

If you are interested in making a statement necklace like this for yourself, here's a quick run down:

You need:

  • 5-6 large colored beads
  • 2 equal smaller colored beads
  • 6 silver (or gold) beads
  • 3 different colored, 1cm large & 50cm long stripes of organza (sheer) fabric

You do:

  1. Pre arrange the beads in the order you want to string them.
  2. Take the three stripes of fabric tightly together. I piled them onto a needle to help with the stringing process.
  3. Start stringing up the beads. I started with the middle one and worked outwards to achieve a uniform result
  4. Make a tight, bead hugging simple knot between each bead you add
  5. Rinse & repeat until done
  6. Voila, you have a sparkling new funky and shiny statement necklace

This week I used it to accessorize a black button down shirt paired with a grey short pullover/jumper.

The other day I wore these booties, another new entry thanks to January Sales, for the first time. I had already posted a picture of them still being on the shop shelfs on Instagram. After sleeping it over, I went back and bought them. They are going to replace my mid-calf boots because a) those aren't ideal for my figure and b) the synthetic leather has begun peeling off.

I've already said that I like to go to Etsy to find unique items of any kind, and I think a Statement Necklace is one of those things were it most definitely doesn't hurt to be special. So when "window shopping" on the internet, that was my first stop.

And look at those. It's worth checking out the shops linked.

I do love to cruise through the Etsy site, so many incredible, unique, quirky finds there.

Today, I browsed the category for brooches. I wear scarves a lot and I also use them frequently to customize/embellish my handbags
