Culottes in Fall? Why Not!

Anyone who followed the four big fashion weeks in September even a little bit knows that culottes aren't going anywhere, anytime soon. At least not until fall 2015.


Today I am showing you one way to transition them from summer pants into fall pants. Truth be told, this ain't nothing new. Women were already wearing it in a similar way back when culottes were invented (ca. 1900).

I am talking about combining them with a pair of knee high boots, in my case of suede persuasion. That plus in my case a chunky knit sweater. Of course this also works in early spring in some areas.

You could easily adopt this look for date night by changing the sweater with a dressier top and maybe a short fitted jacket.

Chiunque abbia seguito le quattro grandi settimane della moda a Settembre, anche se solo parzialmente, ha certamente capito che le culottes non stanno certo scomparendo nel breve termine. Di sicuro non fino all'autunno 2015.

 Oggi vorrei mostrarvi un modo per migrare dai pantaloni estivi a quelli autunnali. A dir la verità questa non è certo una novità, le donne le indossavano in modo simile già quando le culottes furono inventate (circa nel 1900).

 Sto parlando di combinarle con un paio di stivali al gionocchio, nel mio caso scamosciati. In aggiunta ad un maglione a trama larga. Naturalmente questo può funzionare anche all'inizio della primavera in certe aree geografiche.

 Potete adattare questo look anche per un appuntamento serale, sostituendo il maglione con un top più elegante e magari una giacca corta.

Jeder der wenigstens ein bisschen bei den Schauen der vier grossen Modewochen reingeschaut hat weiss, dass der Hosenrock, die sogenannten Culottes erst einmal nirgendswo hingehen. Zumindest nicht bis zum Herbst 2015.

Heute zeige ich Euch eine Moeglichkeit, wie man diese eher sommerlichen Hosen auch im Herbst tragen kann. Um bei der Wahrheit zu bleiben, dass ist natuerlich nichts neues. Frauen haben das so aehnlich schon getragen seit der Hosenrock erfunden worden ist (um 1900 herum).

Ich rede von der Kombination mit kniehohen Stiefeln, in meinem Fall aus wildlederaehnlichem Material. Dazu habe ich dann einen etwas grober getrickten Pullover angezogen. Natuerlich kann man das als Outfit auch im Fruehjahr anziehen.

Und das Outfit wird ganz einfach zum Ausgeh Look indem man ein etwas schickeres Oberteil und eventuell einen kurzen, taillierten Blazer (oder aehnliches) anzieht.

    I have to be honest with you. Not entirely sure what Culottes means - is it the sweater, or the pants you're wearing? Love that shade of turquoise on you.

      It's the pants ;-) The term is french originally and around 1900 when they first came up they were called jupe-culottes as far as I know. Originally they were ment to make it easier for women to ride bicycles.

    Stupenda!! E' un look abbastanza difficile da portare secondo me, più che altro per le geometrie e le lunghezze dei pantaloni che potrebbero spezzare/allargare la figura, ma a te sta divinamente e lo porti con un'eleganza unica! :)
