Summer Reading - 12 Books For Your 'Should Read' List

I said in my last post that I am not one of those that can lay on a beach reading for two weeks straight, but I do like beaches, I like to read and I read on beaches. And I'm very much looking forward to having some huge time chunk to read, seeing as there will be no permanent internet connection where I'm going. This will be so refreshing!

12 Awesome books to read this summer

When I was younger, I used to read a book within two days, three max.  That was of course when I still went to school, before work, before my son and before house chores. So having the time during vacations, when work & house chores are considerably less, to binge read is wonderful.

Here are some suggestions for you and for myself. The first list I've already read, the second are books from my shelf and my reading list that I plan to (hopefully) read this summer.

Already Read:

White Hot Truth / Danielle LaPorte - I've talked bout the why here in my Fave post

#Girlboss / Sophia Amoruso - Love her, hate her, think some passages are full of it; it still has some very good take aways for anyone thinking about being a #Girlboss

Think & Grow Rich / Napoleon Hill - I would call this one the mother of all Law of Attraction books. It hammers home how mindset is a big factor/everything in having success. LoA works, but it requires work.

The Power of Now / Eckhart Tolle - He'll make it clear why there's no point living in either the past nor the future. Which isn't the same as saying "make no plans"

Predictably Irrational / Dan Ariely - The hidden forces that shape our decisions. This was a very interesting read about how we are less unpredictable than we'd like to think and how we can be manipulated to buy.

Notes From The Blue Bike / Tsh Oxenrider - The art of living intentionally in a chaotic world. This is a memoir of a part of the authors life and her journey to more simplicity.

Change Me Prayers / Tosha Silver - This is sooo good. Short anecdotes from her life leading to "Change Me" prayers. And you can use it afterwards as a sort of oracle, opening the book at a random spot and read what prayer comes up for you.

Wanting to read this Summer

Snuff / Terry Pratchett - A discworld novel. This one has been on the shelf for a while, it's going down south with me

Raising Steam / Terry Pratchett - Another discworld novel. This too has been on the shelf for a while, but to be honest I'm a bit unsure. There are plenty of reviews stating that his isn't really a Pratchett book, but more likely ghostwritten with the help of notes after he became too affected by his Alzheimers

War of Art / Steven Pressfield - Break through your blocks and win your inner creative battles. Doesn't that just sound intriguing?

Asteroid Goddesses / Demetra George - The mythology, psychology & astrology of the re-emerging Feminine. This has been on my reading list for far too long.

Choose Yourself / James Altucher - I'm currently reading this on the Kindle. And it is soo effin quotable -> "Ninety-nine per cent of the news is a lie" "Every time you say yes to something you don't want to do, this will happen: You will resent people, you will do a bad job, you will have less energy for the things you were doing a good job on, you will make less money, and yet another small percentage of your life will be used up, burned up, a smoke signal to the future saying "I did it again"" - Yes, yes, yes.
