Layered necklaces are very on point stylewise at the moment, so I thought I show you quickly how to do one. This one here I made for my sister and it has more than one pendant, but you can skip the extras and just attach one per chain or whatever you fancy. In the most simple version, this too is extremely easy and fast to do.

D.I.Y. Tutorial for a stylish layered necklace | Funky Jungle blog

You need:

- 2 pieces of chain in different length and if you want different styles
- 1 clasp of your choice - here I used a lobster clasp
- 2 jump rings of same size
- 1 short piece of chain (2-3cm) or several more same size jump rings
- several head pins depending on the amount of beads / charms
- pliers & cutter

1. Attach the two pieces of chain to two of the jump rings. Lay them out parallel whilst doing this, make sure the chains are not twisted.

2. Attach the clasp to one end of the now double chain

3. Attach either the short piece of chain or several jump rings to the other part of the double chain to make the necklace length adjustable.

P.S. I should have made sure it didn't lay out twisted whilst taking the pic haha.Fail. It really isn't so.

4. Attach charms as per liking to either of the chains of the layered necklace

4a. To attach the beads I took one of the head pins and pulled it through. Then clipped it off at about one finger width of length. Use the round plier to shape the metal in the way pictured above. Re-open it a little bit and attach where you want to have it. For my necklace it went into the middle.

5. Repeat step 4a until satisfied with the appearance of your necklace. Some charms can/have to be attached with jump rings instead of head pins. Adjust your "needed" list accordingly. As you can see, I added several more beads on either side of the faceted one.

6. Enjoy your unique, personalized layered necklace

This is another really easy and fast jewelry D.I.Y. that requires little other skill than being able to hold a pincer. And maybe not even that, as I actually could have opened all of these rings by hand thanks to the pliability of the material.

I've actually done both of these items over a year ago already, but since I had to replace the clasp of the necklace, I figured I could as well take pictures for a tutorial whilst doing so.

This quick & easy jewelry D.I.Y tutorial shows you how to make a twisted chunky chain necklace and bracelet | Funky Jungle - fashion and personal style blog

You've seen me wearing both of these on the blog before, for example here & here & here.

Materials needed for a twisted double chunky chain necklace and/or bracelet | D.I.Y Accessory Tutorial

Materials needed

- 2 different colored chains, ring size of your liking, made up of openable jump rings.
- 1 pair of pincers
- 1 clasp each
- 1 additional small jump ring each

Necklace

1 chain should be around 42 cm long, the other slightly longer. As you can see from the pics, my silver chain is about 5 jump rings longer than the gold one. The extra bit is for adjustable necklace length. You can of course vary both the total and the adjustable lengths to fit your needs and creativity.

Bracelet

Measure your wrist to find out what length you need. I have very slim wrists (most standard size bracelets love to fall off) and usually go with about 18 cm.

Process

1. Lay out both the chain pieces you need. Pry open the jump ring at one end of either chain (it really doesn't matter) and join the chains together. Close the jump ring tightly. You now have one long chain made up of two different colored chains.

2. Wrap the shorter chain tightly around the longer one.

3. Pry open the last jump ring of the shorter chain and attach it to the larger one, leaving the adjustable length as desired.

4. Attach the clasp to the other end, where you first joined the two chains together, using the smaller jump ring.

5. Enjoy!

I used two different colors of the same chain, but you could of course use the same chain, or two different types of chains, for example one being chunkier than the other, and so forth.

Want to attach some charms? No problem, just use another small jump ring and attach them where you fancy.

Loving for Summer

If you've been following my blog for awhile, you know I make a part of my jewelry myself. Today I wanted to share a quick tutorial for the leather wrap bracelet I did last week.

Pin this!

Making this wrap bracelet is easy peasy and done in under 5 mintues. You can see me wearing it here as part of the look with the white top with crochet type cut outs

Another Remix

Last time I wore this dress, I had promised I would show it also styled for warmer temperatures. So here we go.

This Topshop Mini Bag really forces you to consider what you absolutely "need". I remember times when, whatever the destination, I wouldn't go out of the house without this and this and that. Well tough luck when besides your phone all you manage to put in is keys, IDs, tissues and some money.

Obviously, this doesn't work for all type of excursions.
---

Back to me

Back to me for a moment. Least you'll start to miss me. But I hope you also enjoy the pictures from the runways and showrooms.

We've shot these fotos about a week ago and the terrace was half in the shadow, half in sunlight, hence the different colored pictures.

I am wearing a Mango top with faux leather inserts that I got during winter sales together with my newish Zara jeans. Yes it's the spanish battle all over again ;-)
---

It is almost vintage

I am going to admit it, the reason for this post is to show off my self made earrings and necklace. Last week I sat down and created a couple of new pieces of jewelry for myself. The outfit itself is made of a blue maxi skirt and a black top with waterfall neckline that I've had for a very long time. So long I think it could almost count as vintage. Love wearing this shiny skirt for summer. Will be sad when it finally goes to clothes heaven.

-

The Kiwi Attack - A versatile Summer look

I bought this blouse two weeks ago online from the Zara Sale. It was love at first sight. And what is not to love there? Funky print, flowy material, interesting details.

Paired it with my black culottes and wedge espadrillas for a chic summer look that can be worn during the day as well as during the evening/night (well maybe not to sleep - unless you like crashing in your clothes). You could pair it with a larger tote bag for day time wear.

The clutch isn't really a clutch by the way but a cross body bag, I only stuffed the strap inside as I am really into the clutch feeling at the moment.

-

Funky Druck, fliessendes Material, interessante Details.

Enter the black Jumpsuit experiment

This is the little something I picked up when I went to the city a few weeks ago. The shop offered a 30% discount that day, so I got this black jumpsuit in jersey for well under 10€. I will say that the price was definitely a factor for going with this experiment. An experiment yes, because it is the first jumpsuit I own.

Here Number 5 has nothing to do with Chanel, but all with Lou Bega. Do you remember his song "Mambo Number 5" from ca. 1999 (a remake of an instrumental from 1952)? I don't know why but I had it spinning around in my head. Round, round baby round round.

Round round Baby round round.

Mantova / Mantua

Another trip together with my parents, this time we visited the city of Mantova (Mantua) which has been added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2008. To learn a bit more about the history, go here.

If you've been following me for awhile you may remember me posting pics of these ballet flats fresh out of the shopping bag. Here I am wearing them for the first time. Yay.

Yay.

Hello! It seems Summer arrived two weeks ahead of schedule. Since Saturday we are having temperatures over 30°C and lots of sun. I even picked up a tiny tan on the upper body, arms, etc. Let's see if this year my legs will follow suit.

But today I am showing you an outfit I wore exactly 1 week ago.

Ciao!

Legs and feet
The obligatory black&white photo

When the sun comes out on Sunday, we are heading to some nice place for the afternoon. This time, we had a walk along the promenade in Salò at Lake Garda.

I felt daring so I went for a print mix, but not too daring as I kept it within two colors, the easy and always a winner combination black & white. Instead, I added some color with the shoes and the bag.

Blue flats, emerald bag, printed skirt
Looking down

The other day I was wearing a very simple and classic combo. An Evergreen. Something I think will never go out of style as long as we are wearing denim.

Yesterday was a holiday here in Italy. My husband went to a meet up so I spent the day chilling with our son. Originally I had not planned to have a post up regarding the day, this was a spontaneous decision whilst already being out and about.

And since there was no one else at hand for taking pictures, the following post consists of a lot of selfies and some pictures taken by my son, like this one:

Add some purple and a dash of orange and voila, here is another outfit I wore last week, pictures taken quickly during lunch break.

You can clearly see that I am lazy in regards to changing bags, because I am using the same backpack as in the "Outfit Quickie" post. I usually go 3, sometimes 4 days with the same purse and then change unless it absolutely does not go with the outfit I have in mind. Maybe I could get used to carrying less little things so changing is less of a hassle.
Bubblegum and Candy D.I.Y. Do it yourself statement necklace fai da te

This is a necklace I've made myself.

Striped beads in two sizes and three different colors alternated with silver "dotted" beads stringed with 3 equivalent colors of organza.

If you are interested in making a statement necklace like this for yourself, here's a quick run down:

You need:

  • 5-6 large colored beads
  • 2 equal smaller colored beads
  • 6 silver (or gold) beads
  • 3 different colored, 1cm large & 50cm long stripes of organza (sheer) fabric

You do:

  1. Pre arrange the beads in the order you want to string them.
  2. Take the three stripes of fabric tightly together. I piled them onto a needle to help with the stringing process.
  3. Start stringing up the beads. I started with the middle one and worked outwards to achieve a uniform result
  4. Make a tight, bead hugging simple knot between each bead you add
  5. Rinse & repeat until done
  6. Voila, you have a sparkling new funky and shiny statement necklace

This week I used it to accessorize a black button down shirt paired with a grey short pullover/jumper.
