5 Fashion Must Haves I Do Not Own - The Closet Conundrum VIII

There are a lot of articles out there about the so called "must have" items that every woman should have in her closet. I'd know, I googled them. And here I am writing this post to tell you that there is no such thing.

There's no such thing as an universal "must have when it comes to personal style - 5 Fashion Must Haves I Do Not Own - The Closet Conundrum VIII | Funky Jungle, fashion and personal style blog

I mean I get the articles. They are here to make you shop help you build a functional wardrobe to look like everyone else. But I firmly believe that this thing, this functional wardrobe, is different for maybe not all, but a lot of us, depending on your actual lifestyle, goals and who you are. I mean, it does make sense not having/buying item X if you'd never get to wear it based on what the realities of your life are, where you live and where you are headed. Don't you think so?

So today I am telling you what I do not have in my wardrobe that is considered a "Must Have", according to popular lists. Between you and me, they are all just copying from each other, right?

My 5 Not "Must Haves"

1. A Leather Biker Jacket

Nope, don't have one. Neither PU nor real. Sure, I wouldn't mind it and maybe I'd even use it a lot, but I've not felt the irresistible urge to go out and buy one. Which goes to show, I can do perfectly fine without. And I feel perfectly edgy just by saying this.

2. A Pencil Skirt

I don't work in an office. And even if I'd work in an office, I would try to not wear one. Horribly restrictive little buggers that usually make me look unshapely. The two I had got tossed out during my last big wardrobe purge (remember, we only want items we love in there, and I don't love these). So I don't currently own one. And I don't plan on buying one in the near or far future. I have this one little black dress that has a very similar shape, but I'm keeping it as it doesn't disturb me. Maybe because it's a one piece.

3. A Camel Colored Coat

Camel? Really? Whoever declared this to be the best color for a coat ever? Someone who had to hide in the desert? My coat is off-white, thank you very much... Joking. I am happy for everyone who likes their camel coat, they are not ugly, they just aren't for me.

4. A Trenchcoat

This one is a favorite on these lists as well. I actually like looking at them, I can see the appeal. Yet again, I never felt the urge to run off and get one. I have something remotely similar. Maybe I should research whether I can call it sort of a trench coat and feel all fuzzy about having one. It doesn't have a high collar, so I'm not sure I could use it when it's raining while I'm in the trenches.

5. A Nude and/or Pointed Toe Pump

Hmmm. Somewhere in 2008 my feet totally lost the little ability they had to go inside a pointy pointy toe. I am not per se opposed to having a pair of nude or blush or off-white pumps, but so far I haven't found a good pair that my feet agree with and say "Yes, we want to be in this shoe". So no pointy toe or nude pump for me.

And after thinking: "Why is there so much outerwear on this list?" I realised I am actually darn happy with the ones I have, even if they do not appear on any list but my own.
